What is The Pool Repair Club?
The Pool Repair Club is New Jersey Pool Repair’s premier service offering. Members enjoy priority scheduling, beginning of the year inspection of their pool equipment, and discounts on service calls and parts. Let’s take a look at what a pool season for a Pool Repair Club member looks like.
Right after your pool is opened, a comprehensive inspection of your pool equipment is performed. The primary goal of this inspection is to identify and remedy any issues that may cause your pool equipment to fail over the summer. Components checked include the pump, filter, heater, salt system, automation system if applicable, timer box, all PVC pipes and electrical conduit and connections. Let’s get a little more specific as to what is checked on each piece of equipment.
Pump- Pump is checked to make sure bearings are not worn, all bolts are at the proper torque, seal is not leaking, gaskets on pump lid and drain plugs are lubed and not cracked, pump basket is in good shape and not cracked, and pump is not causing excessive noise from vibrating on equipment pad. PVC pipes to and from the pump are checked for leaks. The pipe coming out of the top of the pump to the filter is especially critical. From vibration over time, this pipe often leaks very slowly. This can cause your pool water to drop slowly and make it seem that the pool may have a leak when it does not.
Filter- Filter is checked for any cracks, excessive vibration from loose bolts, drain plug is checked to make sure it is properly lubed, not leaking, and tight. Sand is changed if necessary. Multiport is checked for serviceability, cartridges cleaned and assessed for wear, and all DE filter grids are cleaned and checked for tears.
Heater- Gas valve and attached gas tube are checked for spider webs, all gas lines tested for leaks with soapy water solution, all electrical connections checked for tightness and cleaned with contact cleaner. All conduit is checked for gaps where water or moisture could penetrate, and dielectric grease is applied to all pin connections. Outer shell of the heater is also caulked with silicone at strategic points that New Jersey Pool Repair has identified in the past as likely intrusion points for moisture and/or water.
Salt System- Your salt cell is cleaned using a 4:1 water/muriatic acid solution. Salt system control box connections are checked to make sure they are tight, cleaned with contact cleaner, and dielectric grease is applied on all small pin connections. A diagnostic check to make sure volt and amp reading are within manufacturers specifications.
Automation System- All pools with an automation system will be checked to ensure all connections are secure, valve actuators are working and are in their proper positions, wifi or either connections are secure and working, the latest software is installed, and schedules for pump, lights, heater, and salt system are in place and applicable. A check with the pool owner to make sure their pool app is connected and working will also occur.
Timer Box- All mechanical timer boxes will be checked to make sure they are waterproof, all connections secure and cleaned, timer on/off ticks are working properly, and timer mechanism is serviable and keeping proper time.
PVC pipes and Electrical Conduits- All PVC pipes and conduits will be inspected for leaks, cracks, gaps where electric wires are exposed, and serviceability.
Thank you for reading. The goal of our Pool Repair Club is to provide you with peace of mind that your pool equipment is as ready as it can be to operate smoothly all summer and if something does happen to fail you have trained people ready, willing, and able to help you quickly.
